Spooky Sounds and Terrifying Tracks for Halloween

 photo Jacko_smaller_zps192cf413.jpg

There are lots of reasons why I love October. The air is getting cooler and the colors are changing. Football is in full swing and the World Series is within sight. I can finally start using Rocktober on my social media feeds. I never pass up a chance to get my German on at Oktoberfest while indulging in beer and brats. And, of course… pumpkin spiced EVERYTHING.

But the real reason to celebrate this time of year is the one night when you can dress up in not-safe-for-work attire and no one cares… Halloween! Before you hit up your costume parties as Bret Michaels or Bon Scott (Yep. I’ve done both. Bret Michaels was a bigger hit. Can you believe that?), you probably need to put the finishing touches on that creature feature and slasher flick you’ve been working on. Or maybe you want the perfect background royalty free music track to scare the kiddies as they venture on to your porch while trick-or-treating. Now is the time to take advantage of our top Halloween music and sound effects. We’ve already set aside our favorites here:

Hottest Halloween Music

Hottest Halloween Sound Effects

I love anything involving Zombies, so make sure to download the “Single Zombie Snarl” sound effect. It would go perfect with “Movie Homicide” and would even make George Romero proud.

And what’s scarier than a creepy little kid in a horror flick? That’s right. Nothing. “House of Marionettes” seems sweet and innocent, but there’s definitely something sinister going on. It makes me shudder just thinking about it. Juxtapose that with “BANSHEE, SCREAM” and you’ve got yourself a heart stopper.

We all know that picking the right song or sound effect can make or break a project. The right file could be the difference between making the next “Exorcist II: The Heretic” and “The Exorcist.” Keep the evil spirits at bay and choose wisely… you might just be able to sleep at night.

Cinematone produces top notch orchestra music. Here is their take on “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”:

What would a Holiday playlist be without “Jingle Bells”? Not much of one I suppose. AMAH delivers with this fun, jazzy version driven by a great stand up bass line:

You can see the Elves bustling about making last minute gifts in Santa’s workshop in this fun, children’s focused track “Christmas Eve” by Fortefill:

Dreaming of a White Christmas? This elegantly composed version of “Let it Snow” by PPaul3 is the perfect tune for you:

If you’re looking for something a little more contemporary, with a little urban appeal then WeAreAA‘s hip hop take on “Deck the Halls” is perfect:

That does it for music tracks. Let’s move on to some appropriate sound effects for your holiday videos and multimedia. For starters, you gotta have sleigh bells! Wills.theatresound provides:

Happy Independence Day!

Photobucket

Happy Birthday to the United States of America! Ahhh the 4th- good friends, barbeques, cold beverages, music, and yes of course – fireworks.

Few things are as definitively awesome and American as a butt kickin’ Fireworks show on the 4th of July. That said, if you’re shooting video of the show, catching the sound isn’t always the easiest thing to do – especially considering fireworks shows don’t necessarily take place in the most confined of sonic spaces. How about adding some whistles to round out the scene? Still not quite there? Not to fret because this awesome grand finale fireworks sound effect will fill the void in your 4th of July video’s sound mix perfectly. Check it out.

So we’ve got a couple great sound effects for America’s birthday, now how about some tunes?

Celebrating a nation’s birthday without a sweet rendition of their national anthem would be terribly unpatriotic – good thing AudioMicro has the goods. Check out this fantastically performed National Anthem, and don’t forget to join in the fun by hooting and hollering starting at “the rockets red glare.” It’ll sound just like Dodger stadium.

Lastly, on a more personal note, two genres of music really defined my formative years in the States, and those were Hip Hop and Rock.

There are some fantastic hip hop and rock composers on the site, many of whom also fly the American flag! One of my personal favorites is RCummins. His style is truly classic American hip hop, and the track “Good for the Soul” is an awesome mellow background track for the barbeque scene in your video. Check it out here. Or check out R’s entire portfolio here.

Now, its time for rock! This one’s easy – just yesterday we added tunes from KJrecords, many of which make up some of the best rock tracks the platform has ever seen. Check out:

All Night Blues in E and Swampdog Blues in D – to get a taste. Or check out the entire portfolio of world class studio productions here.

Have a safe, fun and musical 4th! Until next time…

Video Games and AudioMicro – Endless Possibilities

Video Game ipad photo

AudioMicro has a massive library of royalty free music and sound effects, and its expanding everyday. Listening to such a vast collection of original sounds on a daily bases, its hard not think of all the fun projects that these tracks can be used for. So hard, in fact, that I had to get some of these ideas out of my head and onto the blog.

I am a huge video game fan, and almost every game I play incorporates a heavy dose of production music and sound effects. Video games, whether social apps or full blown computer games, can have an original piece of music for every moment of play. From the “press start” screen, to the main menu, to level select, and of course all levels, music is everywhere. You can have a jingle for when you beat the level, and then another for if you lose! When you fight the “Boss,” or when time is running out, when you got a new high score or watching the game credits, there is a musical need for every situation.

All of this, and we haven’t even gotten to the sound effects! From the ball dribbling to the crowd cheering, every single action requires its own sound effect, and sometimes they need more than one. You can rest assured that AudioMicro has enough sounds (and more) to fill every possible one.

Lets say we have a race-car game that involves cars that are equipped with “offensive weaponry”(sounds awesome already). We’ll call it “Speed Wars.” Now we’ll need some hypothetical music pieces for such a rad sounding title…here are a few potential winners I came across:

An intro piece:

Race Car Intro Techno

The race begins:

3, 2, 1 Go Voice Sound Effect

High action game play music:

Action/Adventure Video Game Music

The race is on! Lets go faster!

Acceleration

Gotta slow down around this turn!

Tire Skid

Whoa that car just crashed!

Metal Explosion

Now, lets get to the weapons:

Machine Gun Fire for when I need to pop a tire or two!

Machine Gun Warfare

The metal tire protectors are stopping my shots from penetrating!

Bullet Hits Metal

No problem, I’ll just bust out the GRENADE LAUNCHER:

Fire Grenade Launcher

I missed! But it made a great explosion!

Big Grenade Explosion

I shoot again, this time, I hit ‘em!

Car Explosion

I pass the finish line in 1st place! The crowd goes wild!

Cheering Crowd

That was fun, but it’s only the beginning. There are so many different ways to use AudioMicro it’s mind-boggling. What can you come up with?
