Sound Fx

Sound fx or sound effects are artificially created sounds, used to emphasize different parts of films, television shows, video games, animation, live performances, music and other media. In professional motion pictures, sound fx are sound clips recorded to present a particular storytelling or to highlight a specific creative segment without using vocal effects. Sound Fx In Films:

When used in films, television or motion pictures, the method of sound recording includes many different disciplines which include:

Hard Sound Effects:  The sound effects that appear on screen like, creaking sound of a door closing or opening, weapons firing, and cars driving by.

Background Sound Effects: The sounds that does not happen within the frame or picture but suggest a correlation to the audience. Examples may be forest sounds, buzzing sounds etc or the sound of people talking in the background is also recorded under sound fx. Usually these background sounds are also called as ambiance or atmos.

Foley Sound Effects: Again the foley sound effects are also considered as special sound effects. Such sound clips needs complete expertise of a Foley artist so that the sound gets recorded properly.

Design Sound Effects: Again there are design sound fx that usually do not occur in nature but are also not possible to record easily. These sound effects are generally used in a musical fashion to create an emotional ambiance.

Sound FX In Video Games:

The concept involved in modern video game sound effects are almost the same as motion pictures. Generally in a video game there are two things required,

• Sound should be recorded and picked from a library
• The sound engine must be well programmed so that the sound can easily be added into the game's interactive ambiance.
