william south is an experienced player/composer with a lot of previous form - after turning pro in late 1984 and cutting his teeth in the jazz bars of london and on the rare groove scene (playing in an early line up of the brand new heavies) he's been working with jazz and beats since the early 90s and has had several successful albums and hit singles out with his project heavy shift as well as doing critically acclaimed pioneering electronica recordings with philadelphia bluntz (amongst a plethora of psuydonems). he has also freelanced with the great and the good of the pop world (ranging from david byrne and tom jones to all saints and bond) and over the last few years has carved a niche in the tv/film composing world, notably as one of the team of composers responsible for the music for the globally successful bbc series hustle and freefonix as well as several other series and feature films. later this year the bernard herrman foundation are to release his remix of the iconic theme music to psycho, a dark, grimey work that maintains his interest in cutting edge electronic production.
