matthew schildt grew up in long island, new york, and began playing viola at the age of 9. at the age of 15, matthew first started writing music and playing piano. while many other teenagers where listening to the grunge music from seattle, matthew was listening to the pat metheny group, mark slonik...Read more...er, and joni mitchell.



matthew has been playing piano and viola with many different musicians. he has played and collaborated with singer/songwriter steve mcclain and the band case of culler. matthew has played in coffee houses, clubs, and outdoor venues in northeastern ohio and southern colorado. currently residing in alamosa, colorado, matthew teaches music theory, composition, and technology at adams state college. his recent cd titled open spaces was recorded in alamosa with don richmond.Hide more...
