Bio:

greetings....

i'm chuck thurau.....bassist, vocalist, songwriter, producer, photographer, husband and father...i live in brooklyn, ny with my wife and kids....i have been in numerous bands (both original and cover) over the years, most notably of which were the 8 years i spent with the popular ska band, "spider nick & the maddogs"....

what got me started on my musical path was the gift of a guitar from my aunt jean (she won it as a prize at some church function) and my trusty radio shack mono tape recorder. i immediately began writing and recording songs even though i couldn't really play...i was inspired to switch to bass after seeing "kiss" on tv. i wanted to be gene simmons.....plus i figured it was easier than playing guitar....for some bizarre reason i really took to bass....(i'm still not much of a guitar player, but i'm working on it.)

because i've been fortunate enough to have played different styles of music, my original material is a true mix of blues, funk, rock and soul....with some ska thrown in for flavor....

some of my favorite bass players: jack bruce, john entwhistle, chris squire, john paul jones, motown, dave larue, steve harris, stanley clarke, gene simmons (stop snickering!!!), dug pinnick...just to mention a few....

currently, i split my creative energies between writing and recording my own material and performing as bassist / vocalist for slacker james (blues/funk) and pale moon (female fronted jazz/lounge band). i also do the occasional gig with "the king" backing rick virga and steve mitchell as part of the elvis tribute band called "all the king's men"...

i have released two cd's of my own "embracing chaos" (available at cdbaby.com and on itunes)

and

"lubrication, vol 1" (all instrumental - available on my website www.fuzzpatch.com).

i have begun writing material for my next cd (are we "doing" cd's anymore???)
